Suzy and Danny {a country club wedding}

Our 2013 season started us out with a lovely couple, Suzy and Danny, at The Lakes Golf and Country Club.  With last Saturday being such a cold and windy day we were planning on taking most of their photos inside, but we ended up meeting up with an awesome and enthusiastic couple and wedding party who were easily convinced to brave the cold with us.

We’ve had the chance to take a few pre-ceremony portraits like the one below over the years, but I think this is one of my favorites.  We always have trouble with the lighting being uneven on each side of the wall making finding the exposure difficult, but luckily I had Steve with me and we were quick to set up some a quick off-camera flash to help light Suzy’s side.  And I love that they decided to exchange letters during this moment.

We had a great time working with Mike at Axcess Entertainment who kept a fantastic party going and invited me to stand on the table next to his equipment to get the shot below…

I love the bridesmaid dresses and flowers, the pink and champagne colors go so well together!

Grey Likes Weddings {and little tree studios}

We’re blushing.  Just a bit.  We’re thrilled to say that we are one of the newest members of Grey Likes Weddings’s Grey Collective.  We’re representin’ the Midwest as the only cinematographers listed for Ohio.  On a blog full of West Coast creatives we’re honored to have caught the eye of the lovely Lady Grey.  You can check out our profile here!

Kirsten + Dave {a handmade ring}

This was a first for us.  Kirsten’s engagement ring was handmade by her fiancé, Dave.  Made out of wood, and carved and sanded to fit the shape of her finger Dave presented this labor of love to Kirsten when he asked her to spend the rest of her life with him.

Despite their enormous bright smiles and our efforts to wish away the clouds we were working with a pretty blah day.  Most of our images were composed in an effort to minimize the amount of sky in each photo (and maximize their unbelievably adorable personalities).

Kirsten also happens to be quite a talented photographer (you can check out her work here!) and had plenty of great photo ideas ready to roll.

By the time we created this next image our session had been over for a half hour.  Dave and Kirsten had treated us to some much needed caffeine for our trip back to Columbus, and we were walking through the campus green on our way back to our cars.  ”Ok guys, one last photo,” I think is the most common phrase that comes out of our mouths.  But with it being a half hour past sunset we were pretty sure we were telling the truth.  I think we saved the best for last.

Mary + Clay {an OU engagement}

Fun loving and totally in love. Mary and Clay met on OU’s campus nearly 5 years ago, and will be tying the knot this spring at 5 years on the nose.

With their first date at Ohio University’s famous Athena movie theater and Clay’s proposal in the middle of the campus green, Ohio University was the logical (and photogenic) choice for their engagement shoot with us.

Filmed only in a couple of hours (in conjunction with their engagement stills) by Steve with additional footage filmed by Liz and Jason Beasley while training with us. Edited and colored by Kyle.  This shoot was also entirely filmed and photographed using Nikon dSLR bodies and lenses.

And of course we have to share some of our favorite photos with you too!

Happy Valentine’s Day to all of our readers our there!  And stay tuned for a post about an adorable couple we met while we were photographing Mary and Clay!

My Nikon D700 {seeking a loving home}

It’s with a heavy heart that I send this blog post out into the cosmos.  I am selling my D700.  My love.  It is with this camera that I started and built my business.

We’re asking $1,500, and if you’ve been following us for awhile it’s no secret that we think this camera is fabulous.  But earlier this year we purchased Nikon’s newest light stalker, the D4, and our beloved D700 has sat in our camera bag since then, feeling neglected.

We’re also offering 2 1-hour lessons for the price listed where we’ll begin to teach you how to use it if you’re new to the photography game.

Interested?  Send us an email at kyle@littletreestudios.com.

Excellent condition.  Minimal body wear and it also includes 2 batteries.
